Lineup for VSU

Looks like we’ve made some changes on the Offensive line. Garrison Ushery has switched from Right Guard to Left. Orion Awa-Dubose, who was backing up his brother Quincy at Center, has been starting at Right. Senior Somto Okeke has taken over at RT for Austin Kastl. Kastl has had some issues dealing with speed rushers in pass protection. I’m glad to see Somto getting a start. He’s been working hard for a long time….Damn Good Wolf!

Scott Symons is The Man

Very impressive defensive adjustments by Defensive Coordinator Scott Symons early on. After West Alabama drove down the field to score on their opening drive their offense never saw the end zone again.

We held them to fewer yards than Jax State. West Alabama only had 65 total yards and three first downs in the second half.

VSU will be an equally challenging test. They may be 2-2 but three of the teams they’ve played are in the top 15 rankings.

QB play has improved

Dallas Dickey is hitting 63% of his passes with 9 TDs and 3 INTs in five games this season, versus 54% with 7 TDs and 9 INTs in 11 games last year.

Movin on up…to the top!

If we can get through these next three weeks we should be a solid top 10 team. A win over North Alabama should put us in the top 5.

West Alabama vs West Georgia

This is a tough game to call as neither team has really been tested versus a quality D-II opponent, though UWA did handle themselves well against FCS Jax State.

One thing that points toward success for us is games against Shaw University. UWA beat Shaw 30-6. Miles beat Shaw 30-6 and we beat Miles 26-0. Does this mean we can beat UWA 26-0? I certainly don’t see it being that wide open but I hope for a 10-13 point victory.

Finally got back in the rankings!

The Wolves broke in at #24. I thought we had a shot with a couple of teams ranked 15-25 losing games. If we can make it through October unscathed we have a chance of being a top 5 team.

Win #4 over Clark U. today. Another impressive showing; unfortunately the Offense gave up the shutout streak.

In other news – #18 VSU lost to #5 UNA; #23 Tarleton State lost to #25 Midwestern State and Findlay lost to an unranked team. That means 3 spots should be open in the Top 25. By my calculation West Georgia should be #25 or 26 next week.
